What's a Dragoon?!
In the mid-nineteenth century just prior to the Civil War, three different types of mounted troops existed simultaneously in the United States Army: cavalry, dragoons, and mounted riflemen. While all traveled on horseback, theoretically, there were enough distinctions between the various units to merit them being called by different names. Dragoons originally were a class of mounted infantry, who used horses for mobility, but dismounted to fight on foot. As if you were a dragoon in the revolutionary war, any mishap on the road will require you to dismount your vehicle and engage in battle to fix it!
